Hi Donna,
You've hit on one of my pet peeves. I just finished attending a webcast by a well-known author in the financial field. Her presentation, while it was interesting, was almost entirely made up of her reading us her PowerPoint slides. I could have read the slides myself and saved about fifty-five minutes.
I'm a big fan of Cliff Atkinson. I'm also a fan of Seth Godin who uses visuals VERY effectively. Slides should add to the presentation, not take the place of it.
Tom Peters is another good example. He offers his slides for download on his web site, but without his commentary, they're practically meaningless. That's why he and Seth get the big bucks.
