Geeking out with Shel Holtz in Toronto
It’s always a treat for us Toronto types when Shel Holtz flies into town. Fortunately, he was here for a consulting gig this week, and put the call out for a Geek dinner. Last night I had the pleasure of dining at Il Fornello with a wonderful bunch of passionate people: Shel (pictured here with Eden Spodek and Rob Clark), Terry Fallis (pictured with me), Chris Clarke, Connie Crosby, Kathryn Lagden, Omar Ha-Redeye, Barbara Dundas, Gary Schlee and Sonja Andic.

What a gathering. Conversation topics zinged around – from children to corporate blogging to spelt flour to podcasting gaffes to music trivia to the finer points of English grammar. (You had to be there.)
I recorded a quick interview with Shel about his new book, How to Do Everything with Podcasting, co-authored with Neville Hobson. The audio will appear in my next Trafcom News Podcast.

Thanks for making the time for us all, Shel.
UPDATE::: The interview with Shel is now available on the Trafcom News Podcast blog - Show #59.

Hey Donna:
A jealous Ottawa flack wishing he could have been in the room for dinner. I guess I'll have to wait for Luke Armour to recreate it. And by the way, I believe it's "spelled flower". Tsk, tsk.

Ha ha, Bob. You funny guy.
See you in Kingston. I'll play my Shel audio for you. ;-)

unfortunately, I am not on for Kingston. The next time I'm in Toronto, I'll meet you halfway or something.

Sorry we didn't get more of a chance to chat.
Can't wait for the next episode of Trafcom News - despite hearing most of the interview with Shel live. ; )
Have a great time at PAB.

Hey, Bob, for some reason I thought you were going to PAB. We'll miss you.
Eden -- yes, we didn't get to schmooze too much last night. Next time. Hope it's soon!

As a lucky Ottawa person who happened to be in Toronto for another reason, I have to say that it was a bit like dining with the seniors at high school when you're a lowly grade "niner". I'm thinking of leading a field trip to Toronto for a geek dinner or two in the future. What's 10 hours in the car? :+)

Barbara, I'm sure no one thought you were a grade 9er! ;-)) You can hold your own. I enjoyed your insights into gov't communications, having been a public servant in a former life.
It was lovely to meet you and I hope to see you again in T.O. or Ottawa!

I had a great time too.
Thanks everyone for coming out!
